Hours & Rates
We are open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6pm each day, 52 weeks a year, excluding Bank Holidays which are payable for both types of contracts. We operate two different types of contract: All Year or Term Time Only (38 weeks a year) where sessions are fully or partly paid for. Please note that our setting at Peter Gladwin school is term time only.
We operate a Bank Holiday Swap scheme, this allows you to swap a contracted day that falls on a Bank Holiday for another session of the same type within 28 days after the bank holiday. This is subject to a space being available. Most bank holidays do not fall within the term time only dates but if (for instance early May bank holiday) they do fall within the term time period, they will be chargeable and available to swap for another day.
Contracted sessions are not swappable and sessions that aren't attended due to illness or holidays are still payable.
If you only wish to use your 9 month, 2 or 3 & 4 year old Free Entitlement (funded) hours, this is only offered on a Term Time Only basis. These free sessions are limited to a maximum number of children in each setting.
Serious consideration should be given when deciding on your contract type. This is especially true if your child is receiving Free Entitlement (funded) hours. You should decide at the start of receiving funding or the start of an academic year, as if the contract type is changed funding may need to be taken back in some cases. Term Time Only contracts are applicable for a whole term, if you swap from an All Year contract to a Term Time Only mid term, all the sessions will be re-invoiced at the term time only rate OR all contracted sessions under the All Year contract will be invoice up until the start of the next term.
A number of different sessions are available each day:
Start times are agreed at the start of the contract.
Our rates are sessional charges and aren't charged by the hour but any occasional extra hours added to a session is charged at £9.50 per hour for All Year contracts and £10 Term Time Only. These extra hours are charged in 15 minutes intervals. This includes early drop-offs and late pick-ups outside of your contracted session times.
Late pick ups after 6pm and arranged early drop offs before 7.30 are charged at £12 per half hour.
Extra sessions, if available, may be booked and are charged at our normal unfunded session rates shown below.
For non fully funded places, a registration fee of £50 is charged when a place is booked. This fee is non-returnable and a Fizzy Fish rucksack is issued once the child starts. If a fully funded child would like a rucksack, this can be purchased for £10.
If two or more siblings are placed at the setting, we offer a 5% discount for the oldest sibling as long as they aren't receiving any funding. This is applied from the younger sibling's first full month. One invoice is produced per family. Individual invoices are available upon request.
Payment is required, in advance by the 5th of each month for all the contracted hours. Payment is still required even if the child is absent due to illness, holiday, bank holidays or closures of settings beyond our control.
We operate a minimum of 2 sessions per week over 2 days policy, as some children find it difficult to settle when they only come into nursery one day a week. The two sessions allow us to build a strong, quality relationships with the children.
4 weeks+ notice is required to end a contract or alter your sessions. We work in full weeks and the contract will end on the Friday of the last week. ie If the notice period end on a Wednesday the contract will cease on the Friday afterwards. This is in line with the local authority's funding policy. Such notice must not include a period where no fees are being paid (i.e. when the setting is closed or during school holidays if the contract is on a Term Time only basis). If you leave and are receiving Free Entitlement (funded) hours and the new setting wants to claim the funding immediately, you will be responsible for the full fees for 4 weeks+ notice period.
We will not accept any children who are attending other settings. We strongly believe that continuity of care is very important for children to feel settled and secure.
Because the government funding is calculated in full weeks and the limittions of the Famly software, we work in full weeks. Therefore the monthly invoice periods are as follows:

If you want permanent additional hours to your free hours, you can attend all year or term time only. Each type of session allows you to use a number of free hours and these are show in brackets below. To maximise the use of your free hours we are able to offer 'extended' sessions. If you are receiving 15 hours and want to spread them across the year, this equates to 11 hours per week, 30 hours equates to 22.
You are not obliged to use all of your Free Entitlement (funded) hours. Please be aware that you cannot bank unused hours to use on extra sessions.
Additional sessions to your contracted sessions may be booked if available and they are charged at the rates below.
