Administration of Medicines

In accordance with the Statutory Framework For the Early Years, we are happy to administer medication to your child as long as the medication has been prescribed (written instruction from a doctor):
  • A permission form is completed before commencement of the medication (Prescription Medication Administration Form).
  • The medication is in the original container and states the name of the child and the dose to be administered.
If a child, whilst in our care, develops a temperature of 38°C or above, a parent will be contacted to come and collect their child.  If required, we can administer a dose of Infant Suspension to stop the temperature rising even further. In this instance we will require written permission. This permission must be sent to us via the page on the website (preferred method) or by email. The latter must specify the date, time and reason the last dose was administered and the dose to be administered.  Permission must be received BEFORE the dose can be given.
A child must then be temperature free (around 36.4°C ) for at least 36 hours before they are allowed back in the setting.
