Recruitment Process
Below details the steps in the recruitment process together with the documents you will need:

STEP 1

Is the Recruitment and Selection Policy up to date?

STEP 2

Is the Safeguarding Children and Adults Policy up to date?
Ensure that a statement about the organisation’s commitment to safeguarding is included in all recruitment and selection materials. |

STEP 3
|
Is the relevant job description and person specification for the role(s) up to date?
Job descriptions and person specifications are available for the following posts: Early Years Professional Early Years SENCO Practitioner Early Years Practitioner Early Years Apprentice Practitioner. If any of the above need the criteria changing, this will need to be reflected in the appropriate Short Listing Grid (see step 6). |

STEP 4
|
Prepare an appropriate advertisement that contains all necessary information about the role, timetable for recruitment and your commitment to safeguarding.

STEP 5
|
Prepare the application information. This should include a letter, the Recruitment and Selection Policy (see above), the Safeguarding Child and Adults Policy (see above), the relevant Job Description (see above), Person Specification (see above) and an Application form.

STEP 6
|
Process each applicant. Shortlist the applicants onto the relevant Short Listing Grid. Use the letter and attachment to invite the successful candidates to an interview and send rejection letters to the unsuccessful.

|
Do the questions on relevant Interview Assessment form need amending? Use the form as a structure for the interview.
At interview, photocopy proof of identity, qualification & course certificates and proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Use the Pre-employment Checklist to monitor progress. |

STEP 8
|
Select the most appropriate applicant using the Interview Assessment results.
Send letters to the unsuccessful applicants. Send a letter to the successful applicant, informing them the offer is subject to checks and references. Include Contract, Equal Opportunities Monitoring and Pre-employment Health Questionnaire forms. Send Reference Request and Attachment to the referees. Request a CRB check. Use the Pre-employment Checklist (see above) to monitor progress. THE APPLICANT IS ONLY ABLE TO START WORK ONCE ALL THE CHECKS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT |

STEP 9
|
Carry out induction on commencement of employment. Use the Induction Checklist to record the process.
Complete the CWDC Early Years Workforce Qualifications Audit. |
